2nd Saturdays AT Casket Arts
Every month you can enjoy a free, casual, laid-back opportunity to visit artists’ studios and view current work at the Casket Arts campus. Studio 218 will be open (unless otherwise posted here), 11 am – 4 pm throughout the year on the dates below. There are always some other studios open throughout Casket, and you can also find open studios in other Northeast Arts District locations—Northrop King and Solar Arts are open every Saturday, and California Buildings is also open on Second Saturdays. No appointment needed. I often have some live music in the studio, too (usually solo guitar or piano). This is an ideal way to explore the local arts community, especially if you dislike the crowds of Art-a-Whirl and other big events.
Casket Arts (including the Carriage House and NE Sculpture Gallery/Factory) is located in the old Northwest Casket Company factory at 681 17th Ave NE, Minneapolis.

The calm after the storm? Our summer Second Saturdays are low key events in contrast to the frenzy of Art-a-Whirl. The studio is still organized for guests and expect some new works to pop up over the summer. For June, I will have returning guests in Studio 218: Ceramicist Kathy Johnston (11 a.m.- 4 p.m.) and pianist/composer Patrick Adkins (1 - 2:30p.m.).
